A Letter from Commissioner Dexter L. McCoy

Dear Neighbor, A lot has transpired in our county since our last update. Most notably has been the cloud surrounding the operations of Commissioner’s Court. Despite the obstructions from our colleagues on Commissioner’s Court, Commissioner Prestage and I have been busy doing the work of serving the people of Fort Bend County. What excites me most is the work we've been able to deliver for you and the feedback we've been able to receive. From the opening of the 90A overpass in New Territory, to town halls on our Community Development project, connecting communities and arming them with helpful information has remained a top priority. As we navigate the issues ahead of us, we always want your voice to be at the center of our work. So let us know what you need and how we are doing. Hurricane Season is Upon Us - Be Prepared!

Hurricane season is upon us and in full swing. Residents in Fort Bend County need to be prepared in the event of a hurricane or tropical storm. We encourage all residents to take simple steps before the storm arrives, like creating an emergency supply kit (https://www.ready.gov/kithttps://www.ready.gov/kit) , to protect you and your family. Additionally, please sign up to receive emergency alerts and updates by text, email, phone, or mobile app by FBC Alert. This is a simple way to stay informed with what is happening during an emergency. To register, text FBCAlert to 8877. Accessible options through Deaf Link AHAS™ provide alerts in ASL, English, and Spanish, with support for Braille readers and internet-connected devices. These alerts include weather warnings, evacuation notices, road closures, and other critical information. Introducing our Fall Town Hall 2026 Series!

Starting this Fall, our team will be touring the precinct in a series of three town halls to bring you project updates, news, and answer any questions you may have. Please stay tuned for the dates and locations of these town halls.

Intern Spotlight

We had another great group of interns working in our office this summer from the Youth Employment Program! Four interns joined us and handled phone calls, constituent concerns, event briefings, content creation, and more. With the program concluding at the end of July, we want to wish every one of them success in their future endeavors.

Project Updates

Activation of Mason and Bellaire Traffic Signal A major safety improvement has now arrived! The brand-new traffic signals at the intersection of Mason and Bellaire were activated Thursday, August 6th around noon time, and the Commissioner joined our engineers to flip the switch to turn it on.
